Our puppy classes are for purebred and mixed breed puppies that are 8 weeks up to one year in age. We focus on positive reinforcement techniques and puppy socialization at an early age. 

We believe that the more time you can spend socializing and training your dog at a young age, the more benefits you will see throughout the dog’s life. 

BKC Puppy Classes

Badger Kennel Club puppy classes include:

  • Puppy Basic (8 to 16 weeks)
  • AKC STAR Puppy (4 to 12 months)
  • Adolescent Journey (6 to 18 months)

Pups age 8 months and younger must have at least 1 puppy class before registering for other classes at BKC.

What is the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy® Program?

Socialization: Proper socialization helps ensure a puppy that will be free from aggression toward people and other dogs, and will tolerate a range of interaction including being held, hugged, petting by strangers and wearing a collar or harness of the owner’s choice.

Training: With training, your puppy will learn to walk nicely on a leash, sit and down on command, come when called, stand or sit quietly for grooming and other necessary handling, allow toys and treats to be taken away, and other behaviors necessary to ensure a well-behaved companion.

Activity: Your puppy will learn the proper way to react to distractions while maintaining focus on you, stay quietly on leash with another person, and other useful skills.

Responsibility: Owner maintains puppy’s health (vaccines, exams and hygiene practices), ensures adequate daily play and exercise, and practices responsible ownership.
